HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-05-30 18-208 Order 05/30/201818-208 05/30/2018 18-208 City Manager Order N/A Title, Order Authorizing the Execution of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Bangor and International Association of Fire Fighters, representing the Bangor Firefighters Association – Local 772. This order authorizes the execution of a Collective Bargaining Agreement covering the Firefighters, Mechanic, Public Education Officer, and Fire Inspectors. Negotiations between the City and the Union have resulted in a Tentative Agreement which has been ratified by the Union. The contract has been negotiated within the bargaining guidelines established by the City Council and includes the following: a three year term, effective 7/1/2018 to 6/30/2021; wage adjustments of 3% each year of the contract, updated language pertaining to scheduling practices and benefits, and the option of eligible full time firefighters covered under this contract to enroll in the Maine Public Employee Retirement System (MPERS) Special Pension Plan 2C. The tentative agreement was reviewed with City Council in Executive Session on May 14, 2018 and is presented with the recommendation of the City’s Negotiation Committee. Whereas the collective bargaining agreement between the Bangor Firefighters Association - Local 772 and the City of Bangor is set to expire on June 30, 2018; Whereas; on May 2, 2018 a tentative agreement was reached between the Bangor Firefighters Association - Local 772 and the City's Negotiating Team and ratified by the membership of the Local 772 on May 13, 2018; Whereas; the contract was negotiated and an agreement was reached within the bargaining guidelines agreed upon by the City Council; Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, the City Manager is authorized to execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement covering the Firefighters, Mechanic, Public Education Officer, and Fire Inspectors for a term commencing July 1, 2018 and ending June 30, 2021 in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Tentative Agreement reached between the Negotiating Committees representing the City and the Union.
