HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-05-30 18-209 Order 05/30/201818-209 05/30/2018 18-209 Human Resources Order N/A Title, Order Authorizing a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Bangor and Maine Association of Police, representing the Bangor Police Commanding Officers Unit, effective July 1, 2018. This order authorizes the City to execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement covering the Sergeants and Lieutenants of the Bangor Police Department. Negotiations between the City and the Union have resulted in a Tentative Agreement which has been ratified by the Union. The contract has been negotiated within the bargaining guidelines established by the City Council and includes the following: a three year term, effective 7/1/2018 to 6/30/2021; wage adjustments of 3% each year of the contract, updated language pertaining to benefits and leaves of absence requested under the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the option of eligible full time commanding officers covered under this contract to enroll in the Maine Public Employee Retirement System (MPERS) Special Pension Plan 2C. The tentative agreement was reviewed with City Council in Executive Session on May 30, 2018 and is presented with the recommendation of the City’s Negotiation Committee. Whereas the collective bargaining agreement between the Bangor Commanding Officers Unit and the City of Bangor is set to expire on June 30, 2018; Whereas; a tentative agreement has been reached between the Commanding Officers Unit and the City's Negotiating Team and ratified by the membership of the Commanding Officers Unit; Whereas; the contract was negotiated and an agreement has been reached within the bargaining guidelines agreed upon by the City Council; Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, The City Manager is authorized to execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Maine Association of Police, representing the Bangor Police Commanding Officers Unit for a term commencing July 1, 2018 and ending June 30, 2021 in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Tentative Agreement reached between the Negotiating Committees representing the City and the Union.
