In 2010, the City awarded contracts for Property and Casualty coverage to Cross Insurance Agency and Sargent, Tyler and West, which was acquired by Cross Insurance in 2016. Due to staff turnover and the need to gain a greater understanding of insurance coverages and to reassess the City's insurance needs, staff recommendation is to extend for one more year. This extension will allow staff to ensure a thorough review of coverages and policies is conducted and to assess the needs of the City prior to issuing a Request for Proposals in 2019. If approved, the current contract with Cross Insurance Agency would expire on June 30, 2019. The extension must be approved by the City Council as it exceeds $100,000.
