HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-04-12 Commission on Cultural Development Minutes City of Bangor, Commission on Cultural Development April 12, 2018 8:30 a.m. Council Chambers, City Hall, 73 Harlow Street, Bangor Meeting Minutes Attendance: Jane Bragg, Amy Blackstone, City Staff Member Melissa Fongemie, Jared Hunnefeld, Andrea Littlefield, Liam Riordan, Amy Roeder, and Kim Stewart 1. Welcome a. Kim Stewart called the meeting to order at 8:31 a.m. 2. a. seconded the motion. 3. Budget Update a. Budget document was reviewed, current standing $17,002.81. b. No changes, Staff recommendation is suggesting the same allotment of $15,000. 4. Grant Application Update a. Inquiring if a press release was sent by Katelyn/City for the grant application. i. Some CCD Members were unaware that the grant was posted. 1. Going forward, make sure CCD Members are aware via email. b. Liam stated that the most important task of the CCD is to oversee the dispersal of grant monies and that we want more applications, and want to give the money out to organizations. c. Jane has offered to participate on the Funding Committee. 5. ARTober 2018 RFP Discussion a. i. Liam, Amy B., Amy R., and Tristine are the current committee members; setting the meeting dates/times as well as the agenda. Kim Stewart has volunteered to serve as the temporary Committee Chair to start out this committee. ii. Currently, ARTober is under the Marketing Committee. b. RFP dates can be modified so that the RFP is out/posted longer. c. 6. Other Business a. Marketing Committee Chair Andrea Littlefield. b. Funding Committee Review the ordinance language. c. Programming & Education Committee Kim Stewart will serve as the temporary chair to start out this committee. d. Goal of all committees is to meet once a month between CCD Meetings for the time being until all committees are off the ground. e. General comment by Liam re: Arts & Cultural Policy updated March 2016, it might be a good time to begin revising this policy and streamline goals and priorities of the CCD. The current policy is pretty ambitious, should review and consolidate. f. July & August meetings would be a good time to review the Arts & Cultural Policy and potentially do a better job coordinating with art organizations and current city leadership on the City Council. g. Creative Leadership Group Andrea and Jane attended this quarterly meeting put on by the Bangor Symphony Orchestra they will be publishing a Google calendar with associated art and cultural organizations meetings. This will be a read-only calendar, but Andrea has contact information to get information onto this calendar. Would be great if we could post a link to this calendar from the 7. Adjourn a.
