THAT Chapter VIII, Article 18, Section 3(,A)(a) be redesignated as
Section 3f1'Itl, and
THAT the following be added as Section 3( �(a):
(a) Medical offices, laboratories, clinics and health care
related services
s provided that such uses are located on
major street as defined in this Ordinance and are
located within 1,000 feet of a hospital complex.

Please be advised that the Planning Board at its regular
meeting on November 16, 1987, held a public hearing on the above
Zoning Amendment.
After considerable discussion as to the future locational
requirements for civic and institutional zoning districts and the
need toreview and redefine all of the contemplated uses in the
civic and institutional zone, the Board. voted five in favor and
none opposed to recommend that the Council not act upon this
amendment at this time with the understanding that the Planning
Board wished to make recommendationa in the future as to how to
handle this question and others which have been raised about the
City's civic and institutional some. The. Board noted that the
civic and institutional zone was under review and revision in the
present Land Development Code draft and requested that the Planning
Office further review this section of the proposed new Ordinance
in accordance with the issues raised by this. Ordinance.

Please be advised that the Planning Board at its regular

Amending Zoning Ordinance - Chapter VIII,
Article 18 - Uses in the C fi I Zone
.Please be advised that the Planning. Board at its
regular meeting on December 21, 1987, reviewed the above
zoning amendment on referral back from the City Council at
its meeting of November 23, 1987. 1
The Board heard from representatives of St. Joseph
Hospital as to concerns with thelanguagern the present
Civic and Institutional Zone and discussed the question of
f the immediacy of need to clarify the range of activities
(either profit or non profit) permitted under the hospital
use in this district. The Board Also discussed the question
of the other uses which had been traditionally included in
the Civic and Institutional Zone and voted to recommend to
the City Council that revisions of the Civic and Institutional Zone
be handled in the Land Development Code.
