HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-04-09 City Council Minutes MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING BANGOR CITY COUNCIL—APRIL 9, 2018 Meeting Called to Order at 7:30 PM Chaired by Council Chair Sprague Councilors Absent:None Meeting Adjourned at 8:25 PM PUBLIC COMMENT Rev.Anthony Cipolle invited everyone to a healing service to be held at St John's Catholic Church on Wednesday,April 25, 2018. Keith Staples asked that more be done for housing for the homeless.He also stated there needed to be more public restrooms. Andrea LaFlamme did not want the City of Bangor to do business with Alex Gray and felt Bangor and Portland should encourage the company to disassociate itself with him Amy Blackstone stood in support of Alex Gray victims. She worried about the workplace culture at Waterfront Concerts and thought the city should make sure that the Waterfront Concerts values align with the city's values. Einstein Hickman stated domestic violence is a great concern in the State of Maine.He supported those who are affected by abuse.He felt an explanation and apology are owed. Judy Renshaw, a survivor of abuse,stated she does not feel safe in Bangor. Nicole Brown felt there needed to be increased training for city staff and that a policy needed to be created to address the issue of abuse. Sean Faircloth encouraged the Council and city to unite with Live Nation and artists and speak as one for the removal of Alex Gray. CONSENT AGENDA ASSIGNED TO ITEM NO.
