PROCLAIMING MAY 28 AS SENIOR HEALTH AND FITNESS DAY IN BANGOR

WHEREAS, on May 28, 100,000 older adults will participate in activities for National
Senior Health and Fitness Day at more than 1,000 locations throughout
the United States, including right here in Bangor; and
WHEREAS, both Hammond Street Senior Center and Eastern Area Agency on Aging
provide activities and programs that support Seniors in many important
endeavors, including promoting health and physical wellness; and
WHEREAS, the goal for this day is to keep older Americans healthy and fit with a
theme of ‘Make a Move Towards Better Health!’; and
WHEREAS, the health of all community members is of great importance to the Bangor
City Council and we continue to strive to promote health and wellness in
our municipal policies and community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Benjamin A. Sprague, Mayor of the City of Bangor, on
behalf of the City Council and citizens of Bangor, do hereby Proclaim May 28, 2014 as
Senior Health and Fitness Day in the City of Bangor and encourage all seniors to
embrace the theme of “Make a Move Towards Better Health!” through participation in
activities and lifestyle choices that will lead to improved health and fitness.
