Doughty, Superintendent of Schools SUBJECT: TEACHER CERTIFICATION BLOCK GRANT FUNDS. FY90 DATE: November 7,, 1989 Ed, the attached memorandum from the Cones issioner of the State Department of Educational and Cultural Services describes the State's procedural requirements for municipal action upon receipt of checks for Block Grant Bunds for Teacher Certification. Bangor's allocation is expected to be $33,728.00 and the School Department has anticipated the receipt of these monies for use in establishing the State -mandated procedures for r ertifying teachers at the local school district level. Mesa procedures will involve secretarial time for recordkeeping and the payment of stipends to teachers for their involvements in procedures such as the -peer review opponent of the certification requirements. It is requested that the Bangor City Council vote to transmit these funds to the school Department at its November 13,. 1989 .meeting( ..
