HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-06-24 Recognition (4) RECOGNIZING THE STUDENTS FROM THE UNITED TECHNOLOGIES CENTER FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND PERSERVERANCE AS THEY REMOVED THE OLD AUDITORIUM SEATING WHEREAS, the United Technologies Center (UTC), Maine Vocational Region #4, is the largest Career and Technical region in the state; and WHEREAS, Thirty-one local communities, including Bangor have a vested interest in the Center and the support of these communities assures the UTC remains a premier technical high school; and WHEREAS, the curriculum at the UTC includes a service learning component; and WHEREAS, the Basketball Hall of Fame sought volunteers to help disassemble seats at the Bangor Auditorium to be sold to support the construction and upkeep of the Basketball Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, the UTC supported the Basketball Hall of Fame by providing 19 students, working two shifts, to help disassemble and move the old wooden seats from the Bangor Auditorium; and WHEREAS, the UTC students work on three different days to remove the old seating much of which was in less than desirable condition due to its age, condition and food accumulation; and NOW THEREFORE, I, NELSON E. DURGIN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BANGOR on behalf of the Bangor City Council and citizens of Bangor do hereby express our gratitude to the students from the United Technologies Center for their hard work and perseverance as they removed the old seating from the Bangor Auditorium. th Given this the 24 day of June, 2013. _____________________________ Nelson E.
