HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-12-22 Recognition RECOGNIZING LIEUTENANT ALLEN I. FOURNIER FOR HIS 40 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE BANGOR FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE CITY OF BANGOR WHEREAS, A. I. Fournier started his employment with the Bangor Fire Department on November 25, 1974; and WHEREAS, Firefighter Fournier was promoted to Lieutenant on January 3, 1988; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Fournier worked countless emergency incidents including house fires, commercial fires, river rescues, all types of emergency medical calls, and even a plane crash on the municipal golf course; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Fournier worked in all Bangor Fire Stations serving all of Bangor’s citizens; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Fournier unselfishly trained and mentored countless Bangor Firefighters throughout his storied firefighting career; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Fournier served under seven Bangor Fire Chiefs over 4 decades; and WHEREAS, On December 27, 1990 Lieutenant Fournier led a crew of firefighters into heavy smoke & fire of a burning structure resulting in a rescue that saved the life of a young male child. NOW THEREFORE, I, NELSON E. DURGIN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BANGOR on behalf of the Bangor City Council as well as the citizens of Bangor, do hereby recognize Lieutenant Allen I. Fournier for his 40 years of dedicated service to the Bangor Fire Department and the citizens of Bangor, and congratulate him on his pending retirement. nd Given this the 22 day of December, 2014. _____________________________ Nelson E.
