HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-07-25 Recognition RECOGNIZING THE RETIREMENT OF ANNE MUNDY WHEREAS, known by many children and adults as “Miss Anne,” Anne Mundy began work at the Bangor Public Library in 1980 becoming Head of the Children’s Department in 1991; and WHEREAS, during her years of service, “Miss Anne” told countless stories, sang songs, played games, recommended books and answered the questions of children of all ages from babies to young-at-heart seniors, encouraging them all to read good books; and WHEREAS, “Miss Anne” was the epitome of the good hostess, throwing parties for young ladies and gents with their teddy bears, hosting New Year’s Eve festivities and bringing authors and readers together with her work with the Bangor Book Festival, and WHEREAS, “Miss Anne” was a proponent for young children and families, working with other city organizations in celebrating the Month of the Young Child, working with the Bangor Education Foundation to bring books into the classrooms, doing story times at Capehart, working with the Maine Discovery Museum and working with countless PTO’s, teachers, homeschooling groups and others, to provide opportunities and to broaden the horizons of children. NOW, THEREFORE, I, SUSAN M. HAWES, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, on behalf of the Bangor City Council and citizenry, do hereby congratulate Anne Mundy upon her retirement and wish her well as she enjoys spending time in her garden and reaping the rewards of a job well done at the Bangor Public Library.
