HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-03-22 Proclamation RECOGNIZING PATRICIA HAMILTON FROM BANGOR HEALTH AND COMMUNITY SERVICES AND MARY WRIGHT FROM THE BANGOR SCHOOL DEPARTMENT FOR THEIR EFFORTS REGARDING H1N1 WHEREAS, April 5-12 is recognized as National Public Health Week following the recent H1N1 influenza pandemic which represented a serious threat to health of our residents and to the well-being of our community; and WHEREAS, Patricia Hamilton in her role as Director of Public Health for the City of Bangor, provided great leadership locally under very difficult conditions to ensure available vaccine was distributed in a timely and efficient manner; and WHEREAS, Mary Wright, Bangor School Department Nurse, worked closely with Patricia Hamilton and the Bangor School Department to vaccinate the staff and over 2,813 children in the Bangor School System working long hours coordinating efforts and collaborating with area schools; and WHEREAS, they were able to lead a phenomenal effort with key partners, including Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, St. Joseph Hospital, Penobscot Community Healthcare and hundreds of volunteers, as well as staff at Bangor Health and Community Services and Bangor School Department; and WHEREAS, more than 7,000 individuals were vaccinated through this very successful effort and Patricia Hamilton and Mary Wright have served the residents of Bangor and beyond in an exemplary fashion through this significant public health threat. NOW THEREFORE, I, RICHARD I. STONE, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, on behalf of the City Council and citizens of Bangor, we do hereby recognize Patricia Hamilton and Mary Wright for their outstanding leadership, stellar efforts and the positive impact they had on the health of our community. nd Given this the 22 day of March, 2010 __________________________________ Mayor Richard I.
