Councilman 89-335 5obm6 �� We, the Firearms Commission, are pleased to report aM make suggestions to the City Council our findings after arompreherwive study and review of '[ha present Bangor City Firearms Ordinance and Boundary Lines. Our recommendations to one Council include three (3) boundary changes, starting first to leave existing line on Newcomb Bond W ran out FiNan Road to Broadway.mGuth on Broadway to existing line at Pusbaw Road. The Commissionuld like W see ee tae. bpur-0ary line rum on the defineable ssacka aM-rcads node presevt 100 yards The next issue the Firearms Commission felt should be addressed is signage. - We recommend two-way signs at all legal road entrances W the City. Next, w suggest having signs mounting Zone 1 from Zone 2 to state 'Discharge of Firearms Prohibited by 0rdinance, City of Bangor" and signs entering Zone 1 from out of town W read 'Discharge of firearms prohibited by Ordinance, City of Bangor". Then we suggest signs entering Zone 2 from any direction to say "Discharge of Firearms Restricted by Ordinance, City of Bangor•. It is suggested that signs he placed on boundary line on Zone 1 or Bone 2 on any may open to vehicle o foot traffic. Lastly on signs, w suggest that signs be erected in Zone 1 at problem such as the pits ov Finson Road, Sewer Meese Rome off Bullseye Bridge and Dunk Marsh off Gilman fund. TTa next is,ue the Commissioa feels should be addressed is to amend City Ordinance, Chapter 7, Article 6, Section 7.2. paragraph 3 to conform with Maine State Laws, Title 12, Section 7406-13 W allow discharge by owner or per_ sea with permission within six hundred (600) feet of said owners dwelling. The Commission would like to recommend to the Council to appropriate additional funds to raw police department for signage, maintenance, personnel coat and educational material to be distributed through the City Clark's Office and Bangor public Schoole. Also we recommend that the police department Inform the mine warden Service of our local ordinances. The Commission feels that Section 9 of Chapter 7, Article 6, Fireworks Ordinance that the fine be increased W what the Council feels appropriate. Lamely, use Commission suggests that it meet at least annually to review the firearms ordinance arta make additional recommendations as appropriate.
