That the zone boundary lines as established by the Zoning Ordinance of the
City of Bangor an January 7, 1954, as amended, be hereby further amended
as follows;
Change from Residence "A" Zone to General Business Zone a portion of

IN RE: City Council Order 255-P
Amending Zoning Ordinance - Union Street
Sirs
Please be advised that the City Planning Board has held a
public hearing on this matter, and has gIvan careful cons l clever ion
to the above Council Order.
The Board would respectfully recommend to City Council that
this request for a zone change be refused because of the serious
detrimental effect a commercial shopping center would have on the
surrounding residential neighborhood, and because of the increasing
traffic hazards that would be created by this center.
The Board also directed that Council be advised of the re -
ceipt of a petition of 137 re sidents opposing this application.
Many of the signers appearedat the Planning Board Hearing and spoke
In opposition to the appllcatlon.

Gentlemen.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Revised Statutes of Maine and the
Laws and Ordinances of the City of Senior, all in such case made
and provided, B is respectfully requested that the present
Residence A Zone designated for the area described and bounded
generally as follows:
On the south by interstate Highway No. 95; on
the east by the westerly sideline of Union Street;
on the north and west by land of U. S. Air Force
and land now or formerly of Murray; ,
be changed to General Business Zone.
We trust that the appropriate action will be promptly initiated to
effectuate this request.
