HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-08-13 Proclamation PROCLAIMING SATURDAY, AUGUST 18, 2007, AS “DOG DAY” WHEREAS, There are nearly 2,000 dogs registered in the City of Bangor; and WHEREAS, The City encourages the responsible care and custody of dogs; and WHEREAS, Downtown Bangor merchants and other organizations will be celebrating all things dog in the Third Annual Downtown Dog Day on Saturday, August 18, 2007; NOW, THEREFORE, I, RICHARD D. GREEN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE CITIZENS OF BANGOR, do hereby declare Saturday, August 18, 2007, as “Dog Day.” As Harry S. Truman once said, “Children and dogs are as necessary to the welfare of the county as Wall Street and the railroads.” I therefore urge you and your children to join with the City, our downtown merchants, and dog enthusiasts everywhere in supporting efforts to improve the humane treatment of dogs and other animals, promote responsible pet stewardship, and have a good time at the City’s Third Annual Dog Day. th Given this the 13 day of August, 2007. __________________________________ Mayor Richard D.
