by adding the following paragraph to Article 7, Section 1.
(5) The Zoning Hoard of Appeals is specifically granted authority to permit
variation to the above Section 4 when the proposed use would not be
dangerous, offensive, or detrimental to the immediately surrounding
residential neighborhood.

Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Ban�ggor as follows,
that Chapter VIII, Article 70 (Local Business Zone) of the Revised Ordinances
of the City of Bangor, shall be amended by adding the following Paragraph to
Article 7, Section 1.
(5) The Zoning Board of Appeals Is specifically granted authority to
permit exception to the above Section 6 when the proposed use

Please be advised that the Planning Board Is now
considering an amendment to the restrictions Imposed on
retail business uses locating In a Local Business Zone
by adding the following paragraph to Article T (Local
Business Zone) Section I of the Zoning Ordinance.
15) The Zoning Board of Appeals is specifically
granted authority to permit variation to the
above Section a when the proposed use would
not be dangerous, offensive, or detrimental
to the immediately surrounding residential
neighborhood.
The Board will hold a public hearing on this matter
on Friday. October 12, 191 at 6 P.M.

Amending Zoning Ordinance -- Local Business Zone
Sirs:
Please be advised that the City Planning Board has
held a public hearing and given careful consideration to the
above City Council Order, and would respectfully recommend
that the amendment be approved,
The Board's recommendation Is based on the following:
I. The 2,000 s9. ft, maximum floor area
stipulated in Section I, Sub. Section 4,
Is too restrictive, and the adoption of
and addition of Sub. Section 5 will give
ore latitude to the present Local Busi-
ness Zone.
Attached is a copy of the proposed amendment.

Sec, I
Sec. I LOCAL BUSINESS ZONES. In a Local Business Zone no building,
land, or premises shall be erected, altered, or used except
for
one or more of the following uses:

Gasoline service station where no major repairs or
car sales are permitted, and only upon approval of the
Zoning Board of Appeals;

Any other retail business or service which has a single
floor area not greater then2,000 square feet, and is
conducted entirely within the building, and whose orl-
ary purpose Is to serve the ordinary needs of the
Immediately surrounding residential neighborhood, and
Is not dangerousoffensive, or detrimental to the said
neighborhood.
