Wy....... ,for,Enqinemeinq.§e?yiFep............ 3 traduced- d by AGREEMENT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE INVESTIGATION OF SEWAGE INTERCEPTION AND TREATMENT THIS AGREEMENT, made this day of , 1983, by and between the City of Bangor, Maine, acting herein by and through Hs City Manager, who is duty authorized so to act for and in behalf of said City of Bangor, hereinafter called the City, and Metcalf & Eddy Inc. , Engineers of Boston, a Massachusetts corporation, hereinafter called the Engineer; WHEREAS, the City desires to employ the Engineer to render engineering services for an investigation and report upon sewage interception and treatment. The report will include consideration of the following subjects: 1. Design criteria, population, water consumption, sewage characteristics and quantities. 2. Treatment plant site. 3. Type a treatment required. 4. intercepting sewers. 5. Sewage pumping stations. S. Overflow sewers. 7. Outfall sewer. 8. Schedule for construction - a. Kenduskeag interceptor, first stage. b. Sewage treatment plant project, first stage. c. Penobscot Interceptor, first stage (between east side Eenduskmg Stream and near Hampden line). d. Penobscot interceptor, future stages (between HeadusImag Stream and near Penjajawoc Stream). -2- 9. Planning assistance, Federal and State. 10. Estimates of cost: a. Construction costs of Kenduskeag interceptor project, first stage. b. Federal and State funds available for work in above paragraph a. c. Construction costs of sewage treatment plant project, first stage. d. Federal coal State funds available for work in above paragraph c. e. Operating costs of sewage treatment plant, first stage. f. Construction mats of Penobscot interceptor project, first stage. g. Federal and State funds available for work In above paragraph f. h. Construction costs of Penobscot interceptor project, future stages. L Federal and State funds available for work in above paragraph h. The engineering services will include investigations and reports, together with observations, measurements and sampling of sewage flows and analysis of samples as the Engineer may deem to be advisable. It is understood that the City will perform the following duties without charge to the Engineer: -3- A. Furnish to the Engineer all pertinent available dam in its files or available to the City. B. Malo' the necessary preliminary field surveys and soil explorations with the data pertaining thereto to be fur- nished to the Engineer in suitable form plotted to scale for the Engineer's use. C. Obtain permits for entrance upon all properties as required for the investigations. D. Furnish the services of a foreman with three laborers and a small truck with suitable tools, flags, lights, safety ropes, gas masks, nacelle and pumps with operator, if required, to assist the Engineer in making measurements and sampling of sewage in the existing principal sewers, to guard open manholes and to direct traffic as may be needed. It is estimated that this investigation and report will require about three (3) months' time after the preliminary field surveys are substantially completed, and with the soil explorations; being conducted during the interim. The Engineer is to present twenty (20) copies of the report which will contain the results of the investigations and conclusions. The City shall pay the Engineers for the services rendered under this Agreement the sum of $23, 000. -4 - Progress payments for the services of the Engineer are to be made in accordance with approved statements to be submitted by the Engineer. NOW, THEREFORE, WUNESSETH, that for and in consfideratien of the mutual covenants and promises between the parties hereto, R is hereby agreed that the Engineer shall furnish engineering services and the City shall make payment for the same in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth above. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties to these presents have hereunto caused these presents to be executed in triplicate the day and year first above mentioned. Vice -Pre ent AGREEMENT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE INVESTIGATION AND REPORT ON A REFUSE INCINERATOR THIS AGREEMENT, made this day of , 1963, by and between the City of Bargor, Malce, acting herein by and through its City Manager who is duly authorized so to act for and in behalf of said City of Bangor, hereinafter called the City, and Metcalf & Eddy Inc., Engineers of Boston, a Massachusetts corporation, hereinafter called the Engineer, WHEREAS, the City desires to employ the Engineer to render engi- neering services for an investigation and report on a refuse incinerator. The report will include consideration of the following subjects: 1. Study of refuse collection records and data. 2. Design criteria, population, capacity, etc. 3. Incinerator site. 4. Plant units, capacity, number. 5. Estimates of cost of incinerator. a. Construction b. Operation 6. Planning assistance, Federal and State. It is understood that all pertinent available data in its files or available to the City will be furnished to the Engineer without charge and that permits will be obtained by the City for entrance upon all property as required for the investigation. -a - It is estimated that the investigation and report as outlined above will require about three (3) months' time, subject to possible delay caused by site selection involved in connection with the sewage treatment plant site. The Engineer is to furnish twenty (20) copies of the report which will contain the results of the investigation and conclusions. The City shall pay the Engineer for services rendered under this Agreement the sum of $8,000. Progress payments for the services of the Engineer are to be made in accordance with approved statements to be submitted by the Engineer. NOW, THEREFORE, WITNESSETH, that for and in consideration of the mutual covenants and promises between the parties hereto, it is hereby agreed that the Engineer shall furnish engineering services and the City shall make payment for same in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth above.
