your letter of July 31.
Th thOr change n rates concerns hydrants installed in
the Bang area tluring 959 and 1960. As a result of the Cam-
missiw'a eliminary nvestigatiw, sight inspection and dis-
uasiovs 2 t was determined that the City world have
no use at pre r 6 of the hydrants installed on the Broad-
way and Strickland road extensions. Consequently, these hy-
drants would not be available to the City and as presumably
they will not be relocated, but used as blcw-offs, it is sug-
gested that the District might repaint the hydrants same color
designating their use.
A proposed charge of $1,700 annually for the 30 remain-
ing hydrants has been arrived at as follows.
We find that considering the Clark Avenue, DeWitt Street
and Bast Broadway extensions as a unit, the District should
realise additional revenues of $913 annually. A 108 return
would then be realized on the District's investment of $13,131
Mr. Johnaton - 2
For the four hydrants on the Broadway Strickland ex-
tension which are acceptable to the City, it is our feeling
that a annual charge of $610 would be appropriate. this,
of courseis based upon a hydrant Chsxge o $160 per year,
which reflects an average charge, givivg a ideretion to
backup facilities.
Me installations on Allen Street sad mond Street,
due to the present general service revenues, hould be in
our opinion, based on a $50 charge rant, or a
total of $100.
As for the Webster AvOl
installat n, the
District has made a very simens in mive to
boost the pressures in therest area. Al-
though the Commission has bor

It appears ta predated value, the hydrant

and it is therefor this time, the Commission

it is sf the proposed adjustments are satisfacsoryto all ned, the District should return to the Com-
missionpies of the rate sheet.
