Orbrrr....^.a ,n¢ city Engineer to lay oat Bangor Alley as a Public way By Os Cky Coun6Z of the City of Denver: ORDERED, THAT WHEREAS, the Kenduskeag Stream Improvement and Parking Areae project has been authorized by the City Council and Is now under construction and WHEREAS, it appears that the parking area on the Broad Street aide of the improvement will be available for parking on or about November let, 19629 it is hereby ORDERED, that the City Engineer, acting for and on behalf of the municipal officers of the City of Bangor, is hereby directed to ley out Bangor Alley, so-called, extending from Broad Street to the new parking area for a distance of about 160 feet, all within the corpo- rate limits of Bangor, and it is Further ORDERED, that the City Engineer, acting for and on behalf of said municipal officers, proceed to give written notice of such Inten- tion of said municipal officers, by posting notices for seven days in two public places in the City of Bangor and in the vicinity of the proposed way, more fully described as follows: Beginning at a point on the easterly aide line of Broad Street, said point being 216 feet southerly from the intersection of the southerly line of Hammond Street and the easterly line of Broad Street; thence easterly along the northerly side line of Bangor Alley as it now exists, for a distance of about 160 feet to the exist- ing wharf line; thence southerly along the existing wharf line for a distance of about 15 feet; thence westerly by and along the southerly aide line of Bangor May, as it now exists, to the easterly side line of Broad Street; thence northerly along the easterly side line of Broad Street to the point of beginaing, and the City Engineer is further ORDERED, to make a written return of said proceedings containing bounds and ad -measurements of the area together with a list of damages allowed to each person for all land taken or for any benefits result- ing to the property owners as a result of said laying out, all in accordance with the laws of the State of Maine. 199-0 -RECEIVED 0RD3N HHe, . 1961 JUL 24 UI 8: 36 :. . Beginningg at a point on the easterly line of Broad Street at elevation 20 70 and descending easterly on a elope of -8.93% for a distance of 34 feet to elevation 25.66; thence descending on a 20 foot vertical curve, having a middle ordinate of 0.06 feet, to elevation 24.10; thence descending on a elope of -6.7% for a distance of 40 feet to elevation 21.42; thence descending on a 20 foot vertical curve, having a middle ordinate of 0.14 feet, to elevation 20.64; thence descending on a elope of -1.00,% for a distance of about 46 feet to the existing wharf line, to elevation 20.18. There appeared at the time and place set for the meeting Mr. Robert Lobley and Mr. Basil L. Smith representing Mr. Everett S Ihord of Dakin Sporting Goods Company,who spoke in favor of the pro- posed laying out, with the understanding that they would be allowed access to the rear of their building from the proposed roadway; that the existing door well on the south side of the building be allowed to remain; and that the existing fire excape located on the south side of the building be allowed to remain until such time as the city deems that it is unfit for use, and that it shall then be re- moved, and may be replaced only by a swing type as approved by the City. The Acting City Eagineer also pointed out that the proposed roadway would accommodate one-way traffic, and that it had not yet been determined in which direction traffic would be allowed to move. An accurate plan and profile accompanies this report. The Acting City Engineer recommends the above description, together with the proposed grades, be established and the street accepted in accordance with the provisions of the City Ordinance and that this portion of the street be named and known as Bangor Alley.
