the City Engineer gave written notice by notices attached to copies of said order posted for seven
days prior to the _, 10th ofJulys 1962

And that the said City Engineer met at the time and place of meeting specified in the notices
and proceeded to lay oat.sald land for street purposes and for elope
easements as follows:
Description of Land for Street Purposes
Beginning at a point on the northerly aide line of the
southerly section of Smith Street as laid out, said point
being 167.18 feet easterly from a granite monument set in the
ground at the intersection of the easterly aide line of Ohio
Street and the northerly side line of the southerly section of
said Smith Street; thence easterly by and along the northerly
side line above referred to for a distance of 30 feet to the
intersection of the said northerly aide line with the westerly
side line of said street; thence northerly at so angle to the
right of 890-53'-30" by and along the westerly side line of said
Smith Street for a distance of 30 feet to a point; thence south-
westerly for a distance of 42.39 feet to the point of beginning
and containing 450 square feet.
The above described parcel being a triangular shaped piece
of land lying at the southeasterly comer of a lot of land now
or formerly owned by Effie M. Hodgkins as described in a deed
from Byron 0. Hodgkins to Hffie M. Hodgkins dated December 10,
1917 and recorded July 71 1961 in the Penobscot 0ounty Registry
of Deeds, volume 1790, page 254.
Description of Land for Slope Basement
Beginning at a point on the easterly aide line of Smith
Or Bmlth street Ior a distance or 19u rest to a point; thence
northerly on a line diverging to the right from said easterly
aide line of Smith Street end crossing the dividing line betwei
property awned by Lawrence A. LaBarge and land owned by Gladys
G. Pomroy at a point 14 feet easterly from the easterly side
line of Smith Street; thence continuing on a parallel with and
14 feet easterly from the easterly side line of said Smith
Street to the dividing line between property of said Gladys G.
Pomroy and property of Marion L. Amundsen; thence northwesterl;
across the land of Marion L. Amundsen to the point of beglnninj
The above described area crosses land owned by Marion L. Anundi
Gladys G. Pommy and Lawrence A. LaForge with a total area of
1400 square feet, divided as follows:
Marion L. Amundsen 301 sq. 4t.
Gladys G. Pomroy 840

No person or persons appeared at the time and place set for
the meeting to object to or claim damages by reason of said
laying out of Lha land for roadway and the elope easements.
The above described land for the roadway and for the slope
areae Is required to early out the improvement program of
the roadway, all of which is a part of the neighborhood
rehabilitation project.
It is recommended that damages in the amount of fifty
dollars (S50) be paid to Wfie M. Hodgkins for the triangular
parcel of land taken, but that no damages be allowed for the
slope easement areae since this area is for the purpose of de-
positing filling material much that the roadway may be wldened;:
An accurate plan of the layout and elope easements is
attached hereto and made a part of this report.

CITY OF BANGOR
(TITLE.) ORDER. Authorizing Land Acquisition for Improvement of Smith Street.
By the City Council of the City of Bangor:
WEED,
THAT the City Engineer, acting for and on behalf of the municipal officcrs
of the City of Bangor, is hereby directed to lay cut a triangular piece of
land for street purposes on Smith Street being 30 feet long along the northerly
aide line and SO feet long along the easterly side line of said Smith Street
on land owned by Effie M. Hodgkins and containing 450 square feet and to lay
out additional land for slope easements along the easterly side of Smith Street
extending from Sta. 6 + 50 to Ste. 8 + 00 and varying from 0 to 14 fast In
width as shown on the accompanying plan, on land of Marion L. Amundsen 253
square feet. (2) Gladys G. Pomeroy Tho square feet and (3) Lawrence LeForga
216 square feet, and it is further
ORDERED, that said City Engineer, acting for and On behalf of said
municipal officers, proceed to give written notice of such intentions of said
municipal officers by posting such notices for seven days in two public places
in the City of Bangor and in the vicinity of the way describing said laying
out in said notices so posted and to further make a written return of said
proceedings containing the bounds and ad -measurements of the laying nut and
One damages allowed to each person for the land taken, all in accordance with
the laws of the State of Maine.
