Introduced and ftled by P r Councilman LICENSE CONTROL OFFICER 622 DEFINITION This is work primarily as enforcement officer of laws of the State of Maine and the City oS Bangor as they relate to licensees with primary emphasis on dog licenses. Work is performed under the general supervision of the City Clerk. EKALWLSS of WONK PE oh]KEG (Any one position may not include all of the duties s eS— ds noxiexamples include all tasks which may be found in posi- tions of this class.) Assists the City Clark in enforcement of all licensing procedures. Calls on the owner or keeper of any unlicensed dog or dogs and collects the license fee if possible. Seeks outs catches and confines all doge within the City of Bangor, Maine, which are not licensed. Enters complaints, and summons to court the owner or keeper of any such unlicensed dog. Investigates all complaints relative to barking or howling dogs, bitches in heat and dangerous dogs. Delivers all dogs to be impounded to the shelter designated by the City as the City Animal Shelter. R UIRED KNOWLEDC£S, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Thorough knowledge of State of Maine and City of Bangor, Waine, laws as bass, relate to licensee. Thorough knowledge of State of leaine and City of Banger, Maine, laws as they relate to dogs. Ability and willingness to handle dogs in a humane man Ability to be courteous and diplomatic in the performance of his duties. Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of light trucks. Working knowledge of the hazards and of applicable safety rules and regu- lations involved in equipment operation. Ability to understand and carry out oral and simple written instructions and to work independently in the performance of regular working duties. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Ability to secure a State of Maine Operatorms License. Geed eyesight, including freedom from color 'blindness, and good hearing. DESIRABLE EIPERiENCE AND TRAINING Conduction from a standard high school. Some experience in working with animals. Experience in the operation of light trucks or related automotive equip- ment.
