AugustPLANNING DEPARTMENT 21, 1962 TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: The Planning Board IN RE: City Council Order I79 -P Relocation of Grandview Avenue Extension Gentlemen: Please be advised that the City Planning Board has again thoroughly investigated the new location of Grandview Avenue Ex- tension, and would respectfully recommend City Council's approval of the new location, The [Insects decision was based upon the following: I. A better and safer Intersection at Broadway: traffic flow would be Improved by having a standard four-way Intersection, 2. Sight distance is satisfactory at the new location, and would be Improved by the proposed reconstroction of Broadway, 3. The old location would be costly to construct because of the difficult topographical condition. The new location would be less expensive to construct because It Is 50 feet shorter and has a much better topographi- cal condition, The Honorable City Council -2- - August 21, 1962 C.C.O. I79 -P 4. The new location did not materially reduce the size of the school parking lot as there were still accommodations for about 460 cars --a number that would adequately serve the needs of the school for nearly all occaslonss S. It Is estimated that traffic flow on Grandview Avenue will not be heavy, and this will not present any extraordinary traffic hazard for pedestrians. Respectfully submitted, Walter A. G. That the new location be approved, 2. Thai the land south of the new route be made into additional parking spaces. The Board's opinion was based on the following: 1. That such a relocation would make a better Intersection of Broadway because of being directly opposite Grandview Avenue, 2. A more economic use could be made of this land reserved for parking spaces because of beingable to fully develop the land to the south of this route. Respectfully submitted, Wolfer A. G.
