Noyes, Director Recreation Department Bangor, Maine Dear Me. Moyes: Reference your letter of May 8,1962 requesting more in- formation about my services I hope the following will answer you questions. For the preliminary plan I would provide you with a plan of the eighteen holes since ultimately you will buillb 18 and the second nine must be planned to fit in with the first nine. On this preliminary plan I would show the location of greens, tees and traps. With the preliminary plan I would give you an up-to-date breakdown of the cost estimate to build the course - both the first and second nine. in 1956 I gave you an estimate but I would have to revise these figures upward. I would not want to make this estimate until I visited the site again and also I need to see the additional land that would be used for the second nine and to discuss with you the proposed method of son - Eruption -- that is by contract or by doing work directly on city payroll. On the enclosed sheet I have presented my proposal as to golf course architectural services if I were retained to design the course. You will recall that I am not a contractor but provide plane, specifications and supervision. Because of the distance to Bangor my figure for designing and supervising con- struction of your course has to be somewhat higher than I charge In Southern New England. The $500 for the preliminary plan would be subtracted from the total fee if I later do the course. Please do not hesitate to call or write if there are other questions. Sincerely, S C GC/pd fr y S.
