ORDERED,
THAT the Bangor Merchant's Association be granted permission to
park a pickup truck in Market Square utilizing two metered spaces
in front of Sweets Drug Stare each Friday evening from B to 9:30
from June 15th through July 27th for the purpose of conducting a
prize drawing.

Minutes of the Public Safety Committee Meeting May 29, 1962 —
The meeting convened at 10:30 a.m. with Chairman Gross and Councilor
Delano present as well as the City Manager.
Item 1. Order 145-P - Merchants Request for Use a Market Square
Xr. Norbert Dowd representing the Merchants Association appeared
before the Committee to request see of market Square on Friday evenings
for a pickup truck to be parked and on which a drawing would be held.
After a considerable amount of discussion, the Committee voted to
allow the use of one metered space instead of two as was originally
requested provided that Mr. Dowd checked with the County Attorney and
ascertained that the proposed drawing was legal.
Item IT. Order 140-P
Ph. Ed Hughes appeared before the Committee to request passage oP
Order 140-P which would allow the construction of a marquee over city
property on Dutton Street. The Committee voted to allow the construction
of the marquee under the following conditions:
a That the overhang of the building would be only on the Witch
Street side with an encroachment or overhang on the ]lain Street
aide of the building.
Is. That the overhang on Dutton Street might go the entire length a
the building (60 feet) but would not exceed L feet over city
property.
c That the overhang would be act less than 10' feet above the side-
walk level.
Under these conditions: the Committee agreed to recommend passage of
the order.
The meeting adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
