By the Cfty Council of the City ofBanpsr: ORDERED, TUT WHEREAS, on April 22, 1960 a petition signed by Millard F. Coffin cod four others for the acceptance of a portion of School Street extending easterly from Broadway fora distance of 500 feet was received by the City Council and WHEREAS, on May 9, 1960, the City Council passed Order 127 M accepting said petition, and WHEREAS, in said petition, the petitioners signified their willingness to pay their proportionate share of the coat of said new construction, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED, That said section of School Street be placed on the official map, and be it further. ORDERED, That the City Engineer acting for and on behalf of the municipal officers according to law lay out by metes and bounds ansi establish grades for said portion of School Street, and be it further ORDERED, that the City Engineer report his findings together with Said description to the City Council as well as the estimate of cost of said construction and alist of possible assessments, said report and description to become a part of this order, and be it further. ORDERED, that the portion of said School Street, So described in the Engineer's report be hereby accepted as a public way, and the assessments levied in accordance with law. City Manager CITY OF EANGOP, MAINE Engineering Department To: The City Council dune 99 1960 Pursuant to City Council Order No. 145-14, passed May 23rd, 1960, directing the City Engineer to prepare an estimate of coat for the construction of School Street; together with a list of possible assessments, the following report is submitted. The total length of the street averages 673 feat, and this estimated cost providea for excavating the roadway to the sub - grade level, placing 18 inches of base gravel, 6 inches of surface gravel, constructing four new catch basins and surfacing the road- way with saphalt, for a total coat of six thousand seven hundred fifty dollars ($6,750.00). Fifty percent of this total, or three thousand three hundred seventy-five dollars ($3,375.00), may be assessed against the property benefited. And net the said City Engineer met at the time and plane of meetinut specified is the notiese and proceeded to lay out. aafd atreat and grade as fol Iowa: Description Beginning at an iron bolt set In the ground at the intersection of the easterly side line of Broadway and the northerly side line of the proposed new street; thence easterly on a bearing of W 800-551 E for a distance of 683.45 feet to an iron bolt at the easterly and of the proposed street; thence S 70-35' W along the easterly end of said proposed street for a distance of 52.09 feet; thence westerly on a bearing of S 800-55t W, parallel with and 50 feet southerly fromthe first described line to the easterly aide line of Broadway as established, a distance of 662.31 feet; thence northerly ca a hearing of M 160-71 W for a distance of 50.38 feet to the point of beginning. The above described street has been laid out 50 feet wide over the same course and within the same bounds as originally set aside for street purposes by the proprietors of the land over which said street passes and as shown on a plan showing the prop- erty of Chw les Woodman, George E. Raclin and Louis %irstein at "Hillside", Bangor, Maine, surveyed September, 1899 by George R. Hamlin, C. E., and resurveyed in 1908 by R. E. Mullaney, C. E., and recorded in Penobscot Registry of Note, Plan book 9, page 7. The Planning Board has considered the request for the accept- ance of this street and they have recrnusended favorably as reported in a letter to the Council dated May 10, 1960. The City Engineer recommends that the street and grade as above described be accepted and established as a public way end that the street be named and known as School Street.
