Gentlemen I an presenting this letter to you at the suggestion of the City Manager, Mx. Coupal. This letter states what ry plana and Intentions are with respect to my property located at 53-51 Broadway, concerning which you have before you far consideration e proposed change in the zone within which this property is located from Residence C to Local Business gone, a change which has already received the approval of the flaming Board. If this zone change is passed by you, and if certain variances fron the provfeiwe of the zoning ordinance are than granted by the geeing Board of Appeals with respect to this prop- erty (these variances relating to size of front yard and possibly to width of lot), it is my intention to erect or arrange for the action of two office buildings of a design similar to Chase depicted in plena which are to be shown to yon, the City Council. Both of these buildings will have two Connote.. It is believed that the connote in the northerly building will be Bead River Company and Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. It Is believed that she tenants in the southerly building will be the Sociat Security Administration and mother insurance coupany. Provisions for the parking of vehicles we the lots will be made. I plan to sell, and have made arm angente to sell later this year, the northerly portion of thesepremiess to Alton Marren of Portland, who will erect the northerly building. I plan to erect the southerly building. There leenaction pending in the Penobscot County Superior Court, to clear certain restrictions Uhich have bem placed n these lots by previous owners. IC is believed Chat the decree reasoving these restrictions will be rendered by June 12, 1961, the day when this matter is presented Co the Council for hearing or shortly thereafter. Counsel indicates Chat there are substantial obstacles to the securing of this decree, and that only me or two details need to be straightened out before this decree is forth - causing. These restrictions moat, however, be cleared before I can proceed with the construction work outlined in this letter bf Later - time. ve\/ry/C/-jn_l-y -yea'rrss,W,, a
