TO: The Honorable City Council
IN RE: City Council Order 124-N -- Change from Residence "C" Zone
to General Business Zones the block of land contained by
Thatcher Streets Olive Streets Olive Heights and Main Street.
Sirs
Please be advised that the City Planning Department has held
a Public Hearing and given careful consideration of the above request
and Would respectfully recommend City Council's refusal.
The Board felt that such a change would not fit In harmoniously
with the area, and would open the way for commercial uses Which could
cause the rapid deterioration of the surrounding residential property.
The Board noted that this area Is almost entirely residential
and is, in effects a small residential Island surrounded an all sides
by commercial uses.
It Is, therefore, most important to provide protection by
Residential Zoning so that these properties will not deteriorate.
Respectfully submitted,
Walter A. G. Snook
Planning Director
