HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-11-09 Proclamation (2) RECOGNIZING EVA MARIE PRICE FOR HER DEDICATION AND SERVICE TO THE ARMY WHEREAS, Miss Price was born in Brewer, Maine on January 21, 1909 and graduated from the Brewer public schools system; and WHEREAS, in 1931 Eva passed her examination before the Board of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and became a Registered Nurse; and WHEREAS, she joined the United States Army and moved up the ranks from First Lieutenant to Captain and then finished her career as a Major and while serving in the military, Eva was assigned in various places to include Japan and Germany during and after World War II; and WHEREAS, Eva was recognized with letters of Appreciation and the Army Commendation Medal for her overall management, judgment and ingenuity in maintaining high standards of nursing care for patients; and WHEREAS, following the War, she returned to the United States and brought her nursing skills to state-side military hospitals, including Walter Reed Hospital; and WHEREAS, Eva Retired from active duty, became involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization for many years and ultimately returned to Maine in 1965. NOW, THEREFORE, I, RICHARD I. STONE, COUNCIL CHAIR OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, on behalf of the City Council and the citizens of Bangor, do hereby offer our thanks and appreciation to Eva M.
