By the City County of Ne City ofBasyer: 114M. )dV.+Yd Vaereas, the City Council on July 11, 1960, appointed a School Ming Committee and authorized it to study the need for additional secondary school facilities in the City of Bangor and to submit a report, and Whereas, this was a widely representative Committee consisting of ve members of the public at large, five members of the Superintend- ing School Committee, and five members of the City Counail, and Whereas, this Committee has held 93 public meetings over a period of six onths in consultation with the architect, school and other city officials, and hes taken into consideration suggestions made by citizens attending these meetings, and Whereas, the School Building Committee has presented to the City oL uneiI preliminary plans, specifications and cost estimates for the construction of new high school facilities on olty-owned property on Broadway, and Whereas, this report of the School Building Committee was approved by aVM-of 13 to 1, with alllpublio members, all members of the Superintending School Committee, and a majority of the City Council members, voting in the affirmative, and Whereas, the City Council has accepted this report by a vote of 7 to 1, wft=one member absent, and Whereas, the City Council proposes to issue bonds in the amount of 13000 to cover the estimated cost of the new high school facilities, provided this proposal is approved by the vdtel's of Bangor at a special election scheduled for 3baroh 20, 1961, and Whereas, the City Council has initiated a referendum on the 'bond issue 'iolorMr to expedite a decision on this vital matter and to avoid the delay which would ensue if a referendum were initiated by petition of the voters, and Whereas, as indicated, the School Building Committee has approved the proposed pteliminary plans for new high school facilities with but one dissenting vote, and the City Council has accented these plans with but one dissenting vote, (over) Now TherePoxe Ha It Resolved that the City Cowell of the City of Bangor recommends to e o tens or cougar that the bond lamas be supported by an affirmative vote on the referendum question so that the naw high school facilities may be constructed as expeditiously as possible. and He IV Further Resolved that the City Council hereby authorizes the �i y in ato n cooperation with the CounoiLs Public Relations Committee, to take appropriate action so that any and all pertinent information concerning the proposed new high school facilities may be made available to the Voters of Bangor in preparation for the special election on March 200 1981, w�N a R �4'ma
