IN GIiY WMIL January 11, 1960 MEED Compensation Pian Intradvced end Bled by Gavdlmev 408 ASSISTANT CITY MOIJEER DWINITION This is professional civil engineering and adudnistrative work in assisting the City Engineer in supervising the engineering functions of the city. Thiswork involves responsibility for all the technical engineering functions of the city including design, specifications and cost estimating for all municipal projects. It involves the application of professional civil engineering principles, knoaledges, and skills to engineering projects in the field axl the design and plan preparation in the office. The employee supervises the work of professioml engineering assistants. Considerable initiative, judgment and capacity for execution are characteriatic of this position although the work is subject to periodic review by the city engineer. Designs, prepares plans and specifications and eatimutes for construction projects including streets, sidewalks, sewers, bridges, carte, gutters. drainage, park improvenants and public buildings. Prepares and completes designs, estimates and specifications. Prepares specifications for work to be performed under contract and reviews contractors' estimates. RE20IREA ENCNLE9GB8, Seahhs Ain ABILITIES Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering particularly those phases relating to municipal public works. Ability th establish and maintain an effective working relationship with employees and supervisors. Considerable knowledge of public works programs and ability to apply this knowledge to engineering activities. Skill in making agineering computations and estimates and ability to prepare plans and specifications. Skill in the use and care of field and office equipment instruments. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING Experience in professional engineering including responsible experience in design, construction and maintenance of a variety of engineering projects. Graduation from a four year college or university with apeenisation in civil engineering. possession of a Certificate of registration as a professional engineer as issued by the Heine State Board of Registration for Professional Ehgineers.
