CITY OF BANGOR, MAINE
Ba Sneering Department
Oct. 17, 1962
To: The Municipal Officers
Pursuant to City Council Order 157-P, passed June 25, 1962,
directing the City Engineer to prepare plans and cost estimates
together win a list of possible assessments for a new sewer to
serve property on Od11n Road southerly from the Maine Central
Railroad, the following report is submitted:
Plans have been prepared which would provide for 19725 feet
of 8 inch Vitrified clay pipe extending southerly along Odlin
Road from an existing manhole at the Intersection of Perry Road.
The total estimated coat of this Installation amounts to fifteen
thousand dollars ($15,000), of which amount 75% or eleven
thousand two hundred and fifty dollars ($11,2501, may be assessed
against the property benefited. Upon completion of the survey
and cost estimate, each of the abutting property owners subject
to assessment was sent a written notice advising them of their
proportionate share of the estimated cost of the proposed sewer
together with a form to be returned on which they indicated
whether they were in favor of or opposed to the construction of
the new sewer. As a result of the questionnaire, all of the
abutting property owners were opposed to the construction of
the new sewer and the original petitioner, Mr. William Viner of
Vlner Bros., Inc., has indicated by letter that he no longer
desires to have the sewer constructed at this time. It is there-
fore recommended that no further consideration be given to the
construction of said sewer until such time as the petition is
renewed.
Respectfully submitted,
John T. Frawley
Acting City Engineer
