Authorizing the City Manager to Apply for a Maine Historic Preservation Commission Grant for Improvements
to City Hall Entrances
This order would authorize the City manager to apply for a Maine Historic Preservation Grant for
improvements to city hall. The grant awards range from $5,000 to about $24,995 and require a
40% local match.
Staff identified a scope of work to qualify for consideration that would address near term City Hall
maintenance issues. The application would be to reset both sets of granite entry stairs,
replace/update the three front doors and repair and/or restore the half moon windows above the
doors and the associated woodwork. In FY2018, $50,000 was appropriated to address the parking
lot at City Hall. This work was undertaken but as park of the Park Street hill retaining wall project
and therefore there are funds available for match.

Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, the City Manager is hereby authorized toe submit
a grant application to the Maine Historic Preservation Commission to fund improvements to the entrances of
City Hall.
