HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-03-27 89-144 ORDERwant[ Anion Date 3/20/89 burns. 89-144 Authorizing City Manager to Apply for Coastal Zone hem/subject: Management Planning Grant Rapomibla Department: Planning Division Commentary: At the time of the filing of a Letter of Intent to the Office of 'Comprehensive Planning of the State Department of Community and Economic Development, we reviewed the concept of a joint harbor management study between the cities of Bangor and Brewer which was agreed upon at a joint meeting of the two City Councils last summer. The Order attached is to be submitted with an application for Coastal Zone Management Planning monies. The Order indicates the readiness of the City to provide the 50% local match (which will be shared on an equal basis with the City of Brewer for this joint study) and is a necessary requirement for the grant award. The Order also authorizes the City Manager to go ahead with the Study and contract with the State Agency and subcontract with the consultant, if the grant award is made, subject to review of all contractual arrangements and fees by the City's Finance C�onmig/i an f spam n . (Prbgrt Authorizing City Manager to Apply for Coastal Zone By the my CoyamB Of &0 C41 of Denser: ORDBRED, THAT WHEREAS, the City of Bangor and the City of Brewer have expressed their wish to cooperate on a joint study of the harbor, its management,.future use and facilities; and WHEREAS, the State Department of Economic and Community Develop- ment has indicated that it would entertain an application for planning monies to support 50% of the cost of such study.: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED THAT the City Managerbe authorized to file an application to the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development for a local planning grant for this'purpos and. to contract with said Department for receipt of such grant monies,, if awarded, jointly with the City of Brewer. AND BE IT FURTHER ORDERED THAT the City Manager be authorized to take all the necessary actions to Carry out the program as agreed upon by the State Office of Comprehensive Planning and the City of Brewer, including entering into subcontracts to carry out thework program subject to review of final contracts and expenditures by the City Council Finance Committee and subject to the City of Bangorshare of the cost of the program being limited to $10,000. STATEMENT OF FACT: The overall cost of the planning activity is expected no more than $40,000.
