Directo�'s Report: �
Le4ters will go out shortly to Adopt-A-Park sponsors
informing them of the changes in the program that will take r
effect July 1, 2004. The name will change to Park Sponsorship
Program; the sign will be smaller 24" x 30" and more esthetically '
pleasing to the eye. In addition to the signs, sponsors will be
recognized on the city's web page and two or three months a �
year on Bangor's public access television channel. New program
flyers were distributed to members. The new signs will be
installed as sponsors renew their sponsorships. f
Work on the swimming pool is progressing, tile is scheduled �
to be installed this week. Work continues on the deck and slide.
The security fencing should be installed in a couple of weeks and
the pool should be filled with water in about three weeks. The �
contractors will continue work on the building through January.
The Director displayed the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race �
logo that was designed by Packard & Judd LLC. The race �

� committee will meet in a few weeks to decide if they want to
� change the logo that has been part of the race since its
inception.
� Pro�ram Report•
� Instructional Basketball for grades K, 7, 2 will conclude this �
Saturday. The Youth Basketball League for grades 3, 4, 5 will
have an organizational day this Saturday, with games starting
jDecember 73"'. All coaches are required to be certified through
the National Alliance for Youth Sports. The Little Reckees
I Program for pre-schoolers ages 3 and 4 is going well. Basic
skills are taught in basketball, volleyball and pillo polo.
' Registrations are being accepted for ski and snowboard lessons
at Hermon Mountain that begins January 6"'.
, Once again this year the Bangor Noontime Kiwanis Club
will assist us with the North Pole Calling Program the week of
� December 8en.
� The Pre-School Tot Time Program, a form of open gym for
pre-schoolers five momings a week, continues to be well-
attended with 35-40 a day.
� Adult Open Gym for basketball is offered at Cohen School
� on Monday evenings. Volleyball is offered at the Rec Cen4er on
Monday and Wednesday evenings.
� Sawyer Arena Report:
' The Arena opened for business on October 20`" and will be
open seven days a week through March. Public Skating is
� offered Monday through Friday 12:30-1:30 p.m. and Sunday from

4:00-5:30 p.m. The Sunday session is very popular. Figure �
Skating is offered Monday through Friday 1:30-2:20 p.m. The
remainder of the time is utilized for hockey with Bangor Youth �
Hockey being the largest user. The rink is home to Bangor and
John Bapst High Schools for games and practices. Dover-
Foxcroft Academy utilizes the rink for its home games while they �
practice at other arenas.
Other groups renting ice time on a regular basis are the ,
Penobscot Figure Skating Club, Adult Women's Hockey Team,
Alpha One and occasionally the University of Maine men's and �
women's 4eams.
Now that the high school season has started the weekday '
eariy morning hours are utilized four or five days a week. ,
Weekends are very busy.
The Learn to Skate Program will begin this Sunday. �
Other Business: �
The Director requested that the committee revisit the �
swimming pool fees that were recommended at the October
meeting. He felt that since all other programs have a differential
in non-resident fees the daily youth swim fee should also have �
one. It was the consensus of the committee that the non-
resident youth fee should be 52 and the non-resident adult fee �
�4. It was the feeling of the committee that most people will
elect to purchase a season pass. ,
