Director's Report
The Government Operations Committee approved the proposed membership '
and greens fees for the 2005 golf season at Bangor Muni. They also approved '
raising the membership cap from 260 to 285. The proposal to permit free play for
employees working at least 16 hours a week at the golf course was approved and will
go to the full City Council for their approval at the November 8`h meetiug. '
The low bid of$7,300 to replace the clubhouse carpeting was awarded to
Larry Brooker Carpet Sales and should be installed this month. ,
Staff is in the process of purchasing a protective cover for the gymnasium
iloor. �
Sawyer Arena opened for business October 18`n
All Saints School will be renting gym time at the Rec Center this winter for ,
practice and games.

Youth Soccer with 390 participants wrapped up a very successful season on ,
October 23`a
The annual Halloween Party was a huge success as over 350 children ,
attended. The Halloween Coloring Contest for grades K, 1 & 2 received 147 entries.
Instruction Basketball for grades K, 1 & 2 began on October 30'h with 65 �
participants.

' Registrations are being accepted for the Learn to Skate Program w6ich
begins on November 7��.
' New offerings this year at Sawyer Arena are Adult Beginner Skating and
Toddler Beginner Skating.
' Pre-School Open Gym began today and is offered Monday through Friday
from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
' Adult Open Volleyball is offered every Monday and Adult Open Basketball
will be offered every Tuesday at the Parks & Rec Center. Registrations are being
, accepted for grades 3, 4, 5 basketball league which begins play December 4�n
' Union Street Athletic Complex Report
Overall a1175 adult softball teams registered for play this year. The adults
' played 3 games a night, five nights a week on all three Tields. Junior Olympic
Softball for young ladies ages 8 to 23 had 35 teams registered and twelve teams in
the league that played on Wednesday evenings. Fall Youth Soccer had thirty teams
, with practices Monday through Thursday and games on Saturday. The Bangor
Soccer Club had 60 teams playing Spring Soccer and 25 teams playing Fall Soccer.
All games were played on Sunday. Bangor High School used the complex for
' Freshman and Jayvee practices and games. The department offered a summer high
school soccer league with 18 teams. Other programs offered at the complex are T-
Ball, Summer Soccer Camp and Mig6ty Mite Soccer.
' The complex was also rented to outside organizations for six softball
tournaments. New dugouts were built on 5elds #1 and #3. A new tower for the
, P.A./scoreboard was built, and a new concession stand was built.
