ME -0440' Dear Maryann: I am writing in regards to the Emergency Shelter Grants Program offered through the Maine State Housing Authority (MSHA). We would appreciate The City of Bangor applying for Emergency Shelter funds under the current funding Cycle and in return sub- granting those funds to the Shelter. We would like to renovate a large meeting room at a Cost of approximately $BODO. As you know, there willn - be new Person assuming the position s Director of theShelter, and he or she will be aiding within the Director's apartment. This spare is currently being used as meeting Place for support services for the hornless. Community kealth. and Counseling. Adult Learning Center, and Social Secu-ity officials and others have been doing outreach work at. the Shelter and providingservices t0 guests. We want to ensure that this can continue t0 happen, because the services have been successful in helping our guest's transition into more permanent bousing. Because the existing meeting r will be turned back into the Director's apartment, it 1s nece E'^9r5 f0r u9 t0 Provide another meeting space. There is such a space available above the Christmas Shoppe; however, it nlods to be renovated. The money that we are requesting from MPU would go toward completing that renovation. Again, the support services are very helpful to our guests, and this kind of networking enables us to provide services without duplicating what already exists within the community.
