IremiSubjen: Order Requiring Council Acceptance of Funds Donated to
the City for Designated purposes.
Responsible Department: City Council
Commentary: The attached order would establish a policy requiring the
City Council to accept all funds donated to the City for a Designated
purpose. The purpose of the order is to insure that the Council is
aware of and formally accepts donations which bind the City to do
certain things or
construct certain projects. Since the primary focus
of the order is on one-time donations or projects, on-going Trust and
Agency programs such as the Airstein student Loan program, are exemp-
ted. In addition, the Order authorizes the Council to approve on-
going programs such as the D.A.R.E. program through passing a single
order. undesignated donations are exempted since these carry no
requirement for City action.
This procedure should insure that the Council is aware
of and formally takes action on any donation which would require a
specific performance on the part of the City. The order has been
prepared at the request of Councilor England. n
