Commentary:
The discontinuance of Pleasant Street between South Street and Railroad
Street was contemplated in a previous agreement between the City Council
and Burgundy Realty Trust a approved by Council Order No. 90-58 passed
January 22, 1990. The distcontinuance of the right-of-way is necessary
o permit the construction of the proposed parking .area.

ORDERED,
TEAT the City of Bangor: is intending to nstruct a parking a,a between
South Street and Railroad Street, located easterly from Summer Street, which is
intended to w development which has occurred in the Front Street a and
which will eventually serve s public parking for waterfront -related activities; and
WHEREAS. the layout of said parking lot will include a major portion of the
existing right-of-way of Pleasant Street between South Street and Railroad Street;
and
WHEREAS, the continued use of said portion of Pleasant Street as a public
street is not considered necessary to serve the public need;
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It
ORDERED, THAT the City Engineer, acting for and on behalf of the Municipal
Officers according to law, be and hereby is authorized to discontinue said
portion of Pleasant Street. a 60 -foot wide right-of-way, the westerly line of
which is described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the southerly right-of-way line of
South Street with the westerly right-of-way line of Pleasant Street at a point
located 212:04 feet east from the easterly right-of-way line of Sumer Street,
as measured along said southerly right -Of -way line of South Street; thence
South 34' 25' 40" West along said westerly right-of-way line Of Pleasant
Street for a distance of 264.92 feet to the northerly right-of-way line of
Railroad Street,incemepting said Railroad Street right-of-way line at a
point located 214.74 feet east from the easterly right-of-way line of So er
Street as measured along said northerly right-of-way line of Railroad Street.
Meaning and intending to describe that portion of the 60 -foot wide
right-of-way of Pleasant Street extending between South Street and Railroad
Street as originally laid out and accepted as a public way by the City of
Bangor on August I, 1883; and be It further

ORDERED, THAT the city engineer, it accordance with the provisions of
23 M.R.S.A. 43026, proceed to give beat practicable notice to all abutting
property o and to the Planning Board of the Intention of said Municipal
Officers to discontinue and vacate said right-of-way, excepting the reservation
of a publicat for existing storm swat and overhead power line, and
make a writtenreturn of said proceedings. together with a list of possible
damages as a resultof said discontinuance, and report his findings to the
City Council for further action.
