The City has received a request to change the approved Industrial/
Commercial Park sign at the intersection of Haskell Road and
Hogan Road. Currently, the approved name for this sign i
Haskell Road Business Park." Webber Energy has requested that
this sign be changed to "Sam's Plaza."
The Sign Ordinance permit such signs if they are listed in the
ordinance, meet specific criteria and are located on City land.
As indicated in the attached letter, Wal-Mart recognizes the --
responsibility for the installation and maintenance of the sign
and deeding the appropriate amount of land to the
✓City.

of the City of Bangor be amended as follows:

In our most recent discussion concerning progress at the
Sam's wholesale club, you brought to my attention that the sign,
which would include all of the establishments located on Haskell
Road, must have mHaskell Road Business Park" on the legend. In
discussion, it became clear that Hr. Dyer, who had originally
proposed the idea and who was the original developer of a small
five lot subdivision, had probably envisioned a small office type
setting with three to five buildings sited in this area.
As we know now, this area will become one of large, multiple
acre retail and wholesale sites, similar to Shaw's Plaza and the
future development of that area. I am respectfully requesting
that Chapter 6, Article 3, Section 6.2(L) of the Zoning Ordinance
be amended to delete "Haskell Road Business Park" and that "Sam's
Plaza" be added t0 the list under 6.2(L).
Wal-Mart recognizes that they must pay for the installation
of the sign, deed the land to the City, and pay for maintenance.
