Superintendent of Schools, who agreed with the proposed discontinuance. with 25 feet of the existing right-cfway to be retained by the City as a buffer between the Garland Street Baseball Field and the adjacent properties. Mr. and Mrs. State also requested that consideration be given to conveyance of the full 50 feet of width behind their property to them, since it would coincide with the position of the existing fence. and the area is located to the south of the existing ballfield. She City Engineer indicated that he would forward their request to the Superin- tendent of Schools for his further consideration. The City Engineer also indicated that efforts would be made to work with the adjacent property owners Cc Cry to correct existing drainage problems. as mentioned in the original petition from the property owners. The proposed discontinuance of Enfield Street was brought before the Planning Board. who endorsed the discontinuance and removal of the right-of- way from the Official City Map. It is recommended that Enfield Street be discontinued and vacated, with no retention of a public easement. and removed from the Official City Map. Respectfully submitted. JTP:j kp John T. Frawley, City Engineer -3- Beginning at the intersection of the easterly right-of-way line of said Enfield Street with the southerly right-cfway line of Mt. Hope Avenue at a point located 216.97 feet westerly from the westerly right-of-way line of Howard Street, as measured along said southerly right-of-way line of Mt. Hope Avenue; thence In asoutherly direction along the easterly right-of-way line of said Enfield Street for a distance of 832.04 feet to the southerly terminus of said street, as a point located 198.96 feet west from the westerly right-of-way line of Howard Street, a measured at right angles therefrom. Said rlgbt-of-way was originally laid out to a width of 50 feet measuring westerly from the above a described line, and a e fully shown o aPlan entitled 'Howard Street Manor, Bangor, Maine,Developed by Interstate Land Company, Peter V. Cipolla, Engineer' dated July, 1929, said Plan being on file in the Penobscot Registry of Deeds in Plan Book 13, Page 14. There appeared at the time and place set for the meeting Mr. and Mrs. William J. Adams of 146 Howard Street, who spoke in favor of the proposed discontinuance. The City Engineer explained that, i ordance with the provisions of 23 M.R.S.A. 63026, that any interests of the City would pass to the abutting property owners to the center of the way, meaning that the westerly half of the right-of-way would pass to the City of Bangor as part of Garland Street Field, and the easterly half would pass to the abutting property owners, as follows: William J. and Carole J.
