Dare 4VU 5U"6-91 Item No. 91-244
Item/Subject. Order, Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a
Contract Amendment to the Employment Agreement with the
Responsible Department: City Manager Finance Director
Commentary:
John Quartararo, the City's Finance Director, began
his employment with the City on August 1, 1990- ITte original
agreement authorized the City to reimburse him for commuting.
expenses for a period of eight weeks and for housing expenses
in Bangor for a period of three months.
Mr. Quartararo has and is
making a good faith effort to sell his
home i southern Maine. Due to the current state of the housing
market, he has been unable to do so. The cost of commuting to and
from Alfred as well as his home mortgage and rental in Bangor
have created a hardship for him which was not forseen at the time
of his employment.
The attached Order would authorize a contract amendment to his
employment agreement to provide additional payment to him of
$550 per month to c r these additional and unforseen costs.
These payments would be for the months of May through August.
Given the circumstances, I believe this amendment to be appropriate
and to be in the best interest of the city. Mr. Quartararo has
made great progress in his assignment with th - I — e
