Commentary:
The primary purpose of this Order is to direct the Clerk
to place on a ballot at aucipal election to be held
on a date to be established by the City Council a proposed
amendment to the Bangor City Charter which would change
the date of the regular municipal election from the Tuesday
following the first Monday in November to the second
Monday in October.

ORDERED,

THAT in accordance with 30-A M.R.S.A. S 2104(1), the City Council
of the City of Bangor hereby orders the City Clerk to place on a
ballot at a municipal election to be held on the
following question,
"Shall the municipality approve the charter amendment
reprinted below?"
THAT the first paragraph of Sec. 1, Article IV, Bangor
City Charter, is hereby amended to read as follows:
SEC. 1. Date of elections and procedure to determine
results. At the first election after this Charter is
in force, to be held an the first Monday in December
A.D. nineteen hundred thirty-one, the qualified voters
of the City shall ballot for nine councilmen, and the
qualified voters of each ward shall at the same time
ballot for a warden and a ward clerkfor this ward, and
thereafter on 6Re-paesday-€e}}ew}ay-€Re-€€ee5-McMAay
e€-Mevembee tier second Monday in October in each year
a regular municipal election shall be held and the
qualified voters of the City shall ballot for councilman
to fill the office of the councilmen whose terms of office
expire that year, and the qualified voters of each ward
shall, at the same time, ballot to fillthe office of
warden or ward clerk which shall expire that year.
Wardens and ward clerks shall be elected in alternate
years for a two-year term of. office.
