M. APPOINIMEN1S TO MMA's LEGISLATIVE POLICY COMMITTEES
Nomination Forms have been mailed to Maine Municipal Association's member municipalities
for the 1992-94 term of the Legislative Policy Committee (LPC). Because your mum Ql*9 coT=a

The LPC is one of MMA's most important committees because it is responsible for formulating
MMA's legislative strategy. We also enclose several brochures describing the LPC and the

You may have been contacted by one or more of your municipality's elected or appointed
officials requesting to be appointed, or You may wish to be appointed. A vitally important
consideration in deciding whom to appoint or m requesting to be appointed, is B commitment le

Newly elected and appointed members of the 1992-1994 Legislative Policy Committee win
commence their representation in October, 1992, at the LPC meeting during M A's Annual
Convention. This year's Convention will be held at the Augusta Civic Center, October 1416. The LPC
meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, October 15.
The other member musucipalities must submit nominations by July 1. Appairmoss a should
also be made by Wednesday. July 11992: they should be made in writing and signed by your
municipality's legislative body.
To help municipal officials make an informed choice when they vote for their LPC
representatives, we have asked nominees to complete a "profile" describing municipal experience and
interests. Although voting is not required in your District, we enrage your appointees to complete
the enclosed Appointee Profiles and return them to MMA with the letter of appointment This will
familiarize MMA staff with your appointees municipal experience and interests.
