IN CITY COUNCIL Acknowledging the 100th Anniversary

Passed of the National Conference of Commlealovers
on Uniform State Laws

Re: National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform
State Laws
Dear Mayor Cohen
in 1892, exactly 100 years ago, several states founded
the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws.
The Conference was founded in recognition of the need for
uniform state laws, in the many areas where uniformity is
beneficial. The Conference is a state governmental organisation
and an organization of the legal profession. every state, the
District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto RICO, and the
U.S. virgin Islands participate with membership and financing.
The three Commissioners in Maine are appointed by the
Governor and spend countless hours a year, without compensation,
serving on committees and at the annual eight-day meeting.
The Legislature of the State of Maine, through the years,
has adopted approximately 70 of the proposed uniform laws.
This being the 100th Anniversary, it is hoped that the
Bangor City. Council will recognize the service of the Conference
by adopting the enclosed Resolution.
If further information is needed, please let me know
Sincerely,
