Comcilman........on SUVICEs PROSECT SUMMARY: Total Pediatric dental care including all forms of restorative treatment, sealants and preventive dental education are Provided. Children under our care return every 6 (six) months and sometimes more frequently for oral hygiene instruction and frequent fluoride applications or Prescriptions for home use. Surgical Procedures, endodontics, space maintenance, min orthodontics and laboratory work are done within the office. Very little specialty work is referred to other x practitioners except for 3rd molar extractions. interesting _ e Photo documented for r rch and lecture purposes. Many special needs children are treated: tiny infants and newborns, dental phobics of all ages, children with behavior management rroblems in the dental chair, children with fetal alcohol syndrome, children that hove been molested or beaten by their parent and/or by other health professionals including dentists, children with cerebral palsy, children with severe mental retardation, children that are being treated for cancer, leukemia and aids, children with severe craniofacial abnormalities and/or physical deformities and children with cleft lips and cleft palates that may or may not be undergoing treatment with the proper medical teams necessary to treat their conditions. The Clinic also operates the third largest school dental health education program In Maine serving approximately 2.200 children in grades K through S. Each of the seven elementary schools are scheduled for dental health education lectures. These lectures are nvariety of subject areas and are grade specific. Atthes same time, students who have obvious dental needs or do not have a dentist are given a flier with our clinic information and Phone number and are encouraged to call. Under the supervision of a teacher, a weekly fluoride mouthrinse Program is offered to students that have parental permission. At the end of each school year the Clinic conducts a DNF Survey on erandom sampling of Sth grade students to help measure the effectiveness of the school program. The Clinic organizes and participants in many local events Promoting dental health throughout the year. The staff serves as FacUlty Associates for the University College Dental Health Program which uses the Clinic as a training facility. The clinic serves an extramural rotation site for the senior dental hygiene students and the dental assistants in the Dental Health Programs at the University College.
