PROJECT SUMMARY;
The philosophy of the Bangor SM Clinic is that identifying infection
and educating individuals at risk is crucial to diseese intervention.
The Bangor SII) Clinic shall pvvide epicemiologic services to all persons
in a seven county area ( Aroostook, PiscetagAa, Pe:vhscot,xWashington, Hancock,
Somerset and Malta) testing positive For or known to have been exposed to reportable
xwelly trannitted infection. HIV epidemiology services will be provided
toa five county area (Aroostook, Weanington, Placotaquis, Penobscot a d Hancock]
For individuals testing positive or known to have been excused to HIV. These
activities will be provided as outlined in attached job descriptions or Oiseese
Intervention Specialist end Assistant Eiseman Intervention Specialist.
All parsons receiving clinical services at the Clinic will be advised
of personal risk or HIV Infection. Persons at nigh risk will he am ursged
to accept HIV counseling and testing. Confidential testing will be provided
aerecho-W to clients accepting this orfer.
Since February, 1990, she Clinic has participated In or HIV ser'pprevelence
study in which all Clinic patients fresenting Far clinical se-vicas Fon the
First time have had their blood included in a blinded survey testing for HIV
antibody. The goal of this project is to determine the prevalence of infection
with HIV in the SM Clinic client population. This study is being conducted
at all STB Clinics in she waste of Maine as part of a national CBC project.
As a: alternate teat site, Mx Banger S1O Clinic provided anonymous and
confidential HIV antibody c seling and testing to help determine possible
inFectien with HIV. The town Includes individualized education about HIV,
AILS, the teat and ride reduction.. Individuals Found to be infected am offered

In consideration of 9106,6130, as included in this grant, t:e Bangor City
health and Welfare -BIB Clinic shall provide the above services.
Independont of this grant, the Clinic errors additional services including:
1] Physical examination, laboratory testing, diagnosis and treatment to
clinic attendees regardless of ability t0 pay. Th®e services are In compliance
