As fuel prices continue to rise, the airlines are increasing rates. We are anxiously awaiting to see what our capacity will be over the summer months. 2. Passenger Statistics for March Marketing Director Risteen Bahr stated March was a strong month for passenger travel with an increase of 14 ½% and a 9.2% increase year to date. Delta traffic was flat and US Air had significant increases. BGR’s statistics are higher than the national average for the month of March. There is strong demand in this community which has led to more seats and more passengers. Canadian traffic via BGR is also up. 3. Business Development Activities/Events- A. Discover New England Marketing Director Risteen Bahr discussed her trip to Discover New England. The Airport had seven appointments with Tour Operators. There were very interesting questions and conversations. There also were more attendees this year than in the past. B. NTSB Training/Disaster Recovery Airport Director, Hupp attended the National Transportation Safety Board training in Boston for a two day event about responding to aircraft accidents on an Airport or in the region. The class was interesting and informative. This May, the Airport will be holding its full scale disaster drill exercise and the Airport will be testing many of the procedures reviewed in the class. C. European Business Aviation Conference and Exposition (EBACE) Airport Director, Rebecca Hupp discussed the upcoming EBACE 2011 convention that will be held in Geneva, Switzerland in May. As of this date there will be 461 exhibitors at this convention and they are expected to exceed last year’s numbers of 11,000 attendees. It is important for Bangor Aviation Services to maintain a presence at this venue, particularly where our position as the leader in Tech-stop excellence has a strong European customer base. The Airport will be sending three representatives. D. International Aviation Snow Symposium Airport Director, Rebecca Hupp indicated that next week is the annual Snow Symposium held in Buffalo, NY. We send several employees to this event. It is a great training venue for snow removal operations for our employees. We will provide a full report when we come back. 4. This particular AIP project is for the reconstruction of the trench drain by the Gate 2 Aircraft Parking Area. The date to open bids will be April 20th. The Airport needs approval from the Committee to apply for these grant funds. Once the bids are received, a separate request to accept and appropriate the funds from the FAA and award the contract will come before the Council for consideration and approval. Councilor Durgin made the motion to approve. Councilor Bronson seconded the motion. There were no additional questions or comments. Meeting adjourned.
