Summary
The City of Bangor's Commission on Cultural Development has unanimously voted to grant $1,500 to
the Peace and Justice Center of Eastern Maine to help fund its Civil Rights Mural Series. The proposal
is to paint three murals on different buildings in the City that depict well-known civil rights leaders.
The purpose is to encourage residents to apply the principles of these civil rights leaders to their own
lives. Potential locations have been identified but not secured, and murals will be constructed
through March of 2018.
This item was reviewed and recommended for approval by the Business & Economic Development
