Proclamation - Proclaiming April Fair Housing Nonth Responsible Department; Community and Economic Development As a condition of continued federal funding of housing and community development programs operated bytheCity of Bangor, and programs operated by other agencies and non-profit organizations in Bangor, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires the City to certify that it will affirmatively further fair housing. Pursuant to a HUD recommendatton, in December City Staff conducted a survey and analysis to determine impediments to fair housing choice in Danger and in the housing and community development programs operated by the City. The conclusion of the analysis, whichis available for the Community Development office, s that there s readily identifiable impedimenta to fair housing choice within the jurisdiction of the City of Bangor. The analysis also concluded that public awareness of fair housing issues, laws and complaint procedures is not extensive and that additional City actions were appropriate to affirmatively further fair housing. This Council Resolve is an effort to heighten public awareness in that regard. Passage of the Resolve is recommended.
