item/Subject: Waite Waste Management Agency, Capital Investment Grant Program
Grant 8932-056
Responsible Department Public Works
Commentary:
This program will address improvements in all phasesu
of the current recycling
program. A recycling trailer will allow us to expand the curbside program t
cardboard and magazines. The gaylords, fluffer, and conveyor will streamline
processing operations at the Center. Scales will be installed to insure
accuracy
n tracking incoming rather than processed -materials. Equipment will be purchased
to upgrade our leaf composting and brush chipping operations. Composting bins and
an education program will be utilized t0 reduce the 24% of the waste stream that
is made up of organic materials. The 150 households will serve as a pilot program
for future neighborhood expansion Each ton of waste removed represents about $60
in F.E.R.C. fees in addition to collection costs approaching this figare.
No additional City funds are
required to meet the 25% share mandated of
$62,264.00. The City's eligible costs already expended on the baler, skid -steer
loader. and glass crusher totals $13,855.00
